Spring Permaculture Plant & Play: Greening the Earth with Ande the Elf

St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Spring. The Greening of the Earth, the Magic of Life reborn. Join Ande “the Elf” and his special brand of magic to explore and enjoy this time of endless possibility. He will be joined by other permaculture teachers and practitioners and a group of Perma-curious folk for a day of learning, doing, discussing in a most playful, hands on, interactive way.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Saturday, March 15, 9 am - 6 pm

  • Fast and fun introduction to PC principles and practices

  • Propagating native edibles to take home (Aronia berries)

  • Wild foraging and cooking with mushrooms and plants

  • Introductions to herbalism, goat care, soil building, natural building, social applications

  • Registration request $50 non-members/$42 members. Payment accepted in advance or at the event.

All at Ande’s mature permaculture homestead in Milan, Indiana. Address will be provided to registrants prior to the event.

Summer Solstice Celebration

We’re celebrating the start of summer and the longest day of the solar year at Treasure Lake on June 21, 2023. Doors open at 5 PM, Food served at 6:30. Some vegetarian dishes from the farm will be served, and potluck contributions are welcome! We’ll have a campfire, music, outdoor games, conversation and connection, bringing the Cincinnati Permaculture Community together. Bring chairs or blankets, reusable cups/dishes, an instrument if you play one, food or forage from your farm - anything you’d like to share!

Come gather and grow with Cincinnati Permaculture Institute as we celebrate the turn of the season and the bounty of fall. Host Kate Nordyke will take us on a walk around her property in Spring Grove Village, Cincinnati, pointing out wild edibles and permaculture design elements she has incorporated. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for walking in the woods. Space is limited so please RSVP early!

5:30-6:30 Potluck on the deck – Soups, salads, snacks – locally-sourced ingredients are encouraged! CPI members will be present to answer questions about permaculture, our upcoming classes, and edible perennial plants for sale at our nursery.

In the event of heavy rain or inclement weather, this event may be canceled at the host's discretion. Parking is available onsite for up to 30 cars and overflow parking is available 1/10 of a mile away at the Water Reservoir.
