Drumroll, Please: Our New Home Has a Name!

We’re thrilled to debut the new name of our community hub at the corner of Eighth and Enright in East Price Hill! You suggested names and voted, our board members deliberated, and the finalist was:

THE CORNER COMMONS

Why?

  • Third Space Intentions: the first floor & courtyard are going to be used as a commonly held third space and gathering place, and Commons nods to that. It's meant to be filled with and used by people. A commons is a hub of activity - and a hub is what we wanted.

  • We liked that "Corner" gave it a physical, recognizable tag - it will always be clear which of our sites you're headed for. Whether you shorten it to "the Corner" or "the Commons," it still works.

  • It's a remix of two of the former property names: "Common" of Common Roots goes to the back and becomes a noun, and "Corner" of Casey's Corner goes to the front and becomes an adjective. It's just different enough to be fresh, while capturing the new intentions of the space.

Corners designate intersections, and we see this building being the physical, symbolic intersection of our many ambitions, initiatives, and visions. A space to gather, organize, grow and progress; a space to celebrate life with joy and revelry; a safe, accessible place that can serve the neighborhood in times of emergency (this summer’s severe storms and power outages showed us just how needed this is); a resource for sharing skills, tools, and wisdom, all serving CPI’s mission to create a vibrant, self-sustaining, permanent culture of regeneration and resilience in Cincinnati.

We’re humbled by the opportunity and by the mountain of work ahead of us - but also overjoyed. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey and contributed to our wishlist!

And to celebrate, save the date…
