After months of working out the details, the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute board of directors couldn’t be more excited to finally shared the news: CPI now has a home base! Along with the site that has been serving Growing Value Nursery for many years, and thanks in huge part to long-nurtured relationships with our neighbors and friends, we now own the “Icehouse” lot to the north along Price Ave., and the building formerly operated as a pub at the corner of W. Eighth St. and Enright. This is a game-changing investment for us and opens up an abundance of new opportunities to grow our organization and the Cincinnati Permaculture community. We have visions for connecting and transforming these spaces into a true showcase of urban permaculture and a resource that people from all over the city can benefit from. Selling locally-grown food and tea, renting or housing interns in the upstairs apartment, hosting regular meetups with potlucks and live music, using the indoor space for year-round workshops and classes and making it available for event rentals and communal use… there are so many possibilities in front of us. And, admittedly, a lot of work! (Below, some examples of what we’ve envisioned…)
